Memorial Bread-Break a piece off or eat whole?
by TakeOffTheCrown inquestion for some of the old-timers in the congregation.
did those who professed to be of the anointed and partook of the bread, did they break off a piece of the bread and then eat it; or did they take the whole piece and eat it?

Yes Blondie but we are talking about the JW Memorial, not the original Last Supper. -

TakeOffTheCrown,
To Clarify, there are several pieces of bread on the plate. Some who partake will pick up one piece of the bread-pinch off a piece of it and then eat it (they do not take the whole piece). Others, will take a whole piece, put it in their mouths and eat it.
Yes.

I was sitting right besides one of the anointed, a personal friend of mine, and I saw him break of only one piece before passing the plate to me. He also took one sip of the wine . This was in the 1970s.
If everyone in the congregation were of the anointed this would change how it's celebrated. For example, if you were to eat the whole bread before passing it it would make the meeting much longer in duration plus the plates would have to be refilled.
So I wonder what arrangements they had in the days of Russell and Rutherford? Did they sit at the table and have a proper meal out of the emblems? This would approximate the original Last Supper.

How do you transfer a VHS tape to digital? I've got one that's 30 years old that I would like to put in a far more durable media.

Go bags?
by punkofnice ini heard recently that there was a talk given at the kh about having a 'go bag' ready because the big 'a' must be soooo close as evidenced by syria and the russian jobo thing.. does anyone know if this 'go bag' thing is substantiated in publications or just a local nut job being paranoid and attention seeking?.
i also wonder about this 'go bag' thing, apparently, you need to make sure your biscuits (that's cookies to my over the pond friends), are not out of date.
don't carry water, it's too heavy.. too many questions do i have.

Blondie,
freemindfade, I've heard of people eating bullets, but I think should add food and water too.
Blondie, he intends to kill us and steal our rusty, dented cans of tuna fish.

Disfellowshipped people are dead people?
by snugglebunny inskimming though my iphone earlier today i came across a fb post - which i now can't find!.
basically it was a claim that a gb member had stated that associating with a disfellowshipped person was akin to sleeping next to a corpse.. so obviously i'm curious as to whether anyone else has come across this..

James87,
I with strong conviction feel that married to her i could get her out or at least have her less passionate about JW.
I'm sorry to say it but your conviction is misplaced. If she is like this now how will she be when you both get married
The whole blood transfusion thing would not be an issue, if lets say we have a kid and he or she needs a transfusion he or she will get one.
You underestimate the fanaticism of JWs. Once she knows that you're against a transfusion she, with the assistance of the elders, will find ways of circumventing you. Even if the child gets a transfusion, the fact that you stood up to your wife on that issue can break your family apart. By the way, she can be disfellowshipped for allowing her child to have a transfusion.
Look forward to eventual divorce; nasty child custody disputes; and your side of the family (non-JW) unable to see your children or grandchildren.

James, if you were to actually marry her what would your fate be? Maybe she won't want a child because of the doomsday scare bit that makes them think the world will be annihilated soon.
If you do have children, she will bring them up as JWs. That is something you don't want to see. They will be isolated from those outside the religion. Forced to spend their weekends going door to door or looking like mannequins by a literature cart. And face death by not accepting a blood transfusion.

The friendliness the JWs manifested to you is none in the exJW community as "love bombing". It wears off once you become one of them. What I can't understand is why she would be jealous of you when she hasn't even let you sit next to her.
I think she's on the verge of dumping you.
